Ikigai (reason for being) is a Japanese concept that refers to something that gives a person a sense of purpose, a reason for living. The Japanese believe that anyone can have ikigai. Finding it requires deep and sometimes rather long self-searching . This search for oneself is considered very valuable, because it is based on the belief that the finding brings with it a sense of the meaning of life and the joy of living as such.
