ABOUT ART
Dāvids Jānis Baumanis is a contemporary artist from Riga, Latvia, who explores the interplay of texture, color, and emotion through abstract painting. His work is defined by richly layered surfaces and dynamic compositions, inviting viewers to feel and interpret the energy embedded in each canvas. David has been engaged with art since childhood, but he began painting actively in 2020 after returning from Croatia, where he studied Reconnective Healing. For him, painting started as a form of therapy - a way to express his emotions and reflect life experiences through color, texture, and symbolism.
David uses social media as a tool to share his artistic process with the world. He draws inspiration from his own world - whether traveling, spending time in nature, or exploring new activities, he sees the world as a canvas and invites viewers to engage their imagination and immerse themselves in his work.
In past 7 years he has created over 150 paintings which have found homes in countries including the USA, Canada, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Latvia, and Estonia. Beyond painting, he has organized exhibitions, led art masterclasses.
What inspires me?
Quiet mornings, when the world hasn’t woken yet.
The way sunlight spills across a wall,
turning ordinary things into magic.
Music that lingers like a memory.
Conversations that leave a trace in the heart.
The movement of nature — clouds, trees, oceans, wind.
Emotions — simple, complex, fleeting.
Moments that feel alive,
even if just for a breath.
And always… curiosity.
The endless question: what if?
What if I could see the world differently,
and share it with color and form?
That is what inspires me.
